This assignment was a total blast because we could incorporate any objects we wanted and we go to roam around the school. I enjoyed the forced perspective because my group and I got to use objects that I never thought could be used for art like a bucket or a wallet. I learned that if you put an object farther away from the camera it can look much smaller; so it could seem like I was holding a car in my hand if the car was farther behind me and the camera. If I could change one thing it would be to have all of us use the same objects and see what creative similarities and differences we all share.

Of the mini lessons that I completed, I would say that the charcoal drawing was the hardest. In my opinion, the charcoal was very messy and I was not able to get the shading that I wanted because it would rub off. It was my first time using the charcoal as my medium and it was harder than I expected it to be. I would like to try it again. The easiest mini lesson for me was the forced perspective photo. It was exciting to do because you got to use any object you wanted in the photo. I learned that if you stand further back from the object, you tend to look smaller.
During the Artist Observe Unit I solved problems. I responded to challenges that occurred by not giving up when I tried a new art medium for the first time. I put in my best effort on each of the mini lessons and really liked the challenge of using different mediums other than pencil. While working on my charcoal object, my piece took an unexpected turn because my hand would constantly rub up against my paper and smear away all the shading I had accomplished. I developed my art making skills as part of the Artist Observe Unit as well. When I was working on my charcoal object I learned that the best way to shade was to work with the darker areas first and then fade them out to lighter. By incorporating the grey-scale, I got a much wider range of shades which added to the overall depth of the piece. I was able to make the glue gun look as it was popping out if the paper. Since it was my first time using charcoal as my medium I didn't gain any new skills but aside from the mess, I thoroughly enjoyed the Artist Observe Unit. |
